Embase - Medline - PsycInfo OVID en: The NOT operator

Using the NOT operator to limit the search result

The NOT operator should be used with caution, as it can exclude relevant results. However, it can be useful when you need to narrow your search by removing specific content.
You can do it this way:
In the example on the right, we aim to exclude articles whose title contains the word "men"  without the word "women".

Search 6: A search for articles related to PTSD.
Search 7: A search for articles with "men" in the title without the word "women".
Search 8: Combines Search 6 and Search 7 using the NOT operator to exclude results from Search 6.
We have thus removed all articles from the search where we find  "men" without "women" in the title.

Subtract search 7 from search 6 with the NOT operator
