Embase - Medline - PsycInfo OVID en: Free text searching

What is Freetext searching?

Free text searching is searching for words in titles, abstracts and different types of subject terms. In other words everything but  full-text.
It is indicated by .mp. in the search history.
It corresponds to a search on [All Fields] in Pubmed.

Tip

OVID automatically searches for phrases, so you do not need to use quotation marks when entering compound terms.
For example:

  • post-traumatic stress disorder
  • heart arrhythmia
  • nurse patient relationship

To learn how to combine search results using logical operators like AND,
see the Combining Searches Tab

For more advanced searching, such as specifying how close keywords should appear to each other (e.g., within an abstract),
see the Proximity/Adjacency Tab

Conducting a free text search

Use Advanced search and remove the tick at Map Term to Subject Heading but keep the tick at  Keyword.
Write your keywords and search.
